The Customer

Triton College is an institution of higher education dedicated to student success. Located 14 miles from downtown Chicago, the school offers outstanding educational value in a student-centered setting rich in academic and cultural resources, career-oriented learning opportunities, and engaging social activities. Triton’s 110-acre campus features state-of-the-art facilities, arts, and athletics programs.

The Challenge

The Governor of Illinois issued an emergency order in September of 2021 that required all Higher Education institutions in the state to verify that students and employees were either fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or submit a weekly negative test for COVID-19. Triton needed a program to test the entire student and faculty population each week to avoid disruptive closures and “superspreader” events. It was essential to college safety that students and employees submit proof of vaccination or proof of a weekly negative test following the college's COVID-19 protocols.

The Solution

The CLEARED4 platform seamlessly connected health data to match the institution's compliance rules for who was cleared to come on campus. These rules were easily configured and updated in real time.  CLEARED4 helped automate the many administrative tasks involved in ensuring compliance, from daily reminders to processing health data, building custom rules, and compliance reporting.

 

An unexpected benefit was the ability for Triton to use the tagging/group features to easily communicate with different segments of their student and faculty populations. In just a few clicks, Triton staff were able to send custom emails and texts to very specific groups of individuals. Often, these messages were not specific to Covid, but other important and urgent messaging that could be easily sent via CLEARED4.

 

Finally, Triton took advantage of the event management features in CLEARED4 and used the platform to easily manage invites and RSVPs to many events from Boy Scout meet-ups to Concert performances.  By using CLEARED4, those running the events could easily create and share a dedicated link for sign-up, track RSVPs, and also ensure health compliance.

What’s Next?

Despite the removal of vaccine and testing mandates by the Governor of Illinois, Triton College is extending its partnership with CLEARED4 for the next academic year.  

 

Triton fears that with the unpredictability of COVID waves, student mandates may soon be back.  This means Triton needs a system on-hand to turn on in 24hrs if needed.  Triton wanted to maintain all of the information it had already collected, and leverage all the training and learning that had gone into using CLEARED4.

 

In addition, Unions have agreed that having a daily health survey as an option health tool is valuable for staff, and so this functionality will continue as part of Triton’s ongoing health & safety best practices.

Finally, the non-covid features of dynamic group messaging and event management are useful features that will be used by many faculty staff, regardless of evolving health & safety best practices.

 

What is clear is that none of us know what the future will hold, but we are certain that COVID-19 (and other contagious diseases) will remain a health threat for the foreseeable future. Given that, we are all responsible for future-proofing our organizations from current and future impacts on the health, productivity, and lives of staff, students, and visitors to colleges and businesses around the world.

“With the mandate being lifted this July, we've evolved what we were doing with CLEARED4. We have temporarily suspended our student accounts at this time. We have, however, based on input from our employee groups, left the employee records active and we're still doing a daily symptom check, and reminder for all employees. There was enough interest from the union heads that they felt we did have a good percentage of employees that were still interested in using it as long as we continue to make it available”
