The American Cancer Society (ACS) is a nationwide voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer. Established in 1913, the society is organized into six geographical regions of both medical and lay volunteers operating in more than 250 Regional offices throughout the United States. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, ACS has regional and local offices throughout the country having a presence in every community.
The Challenge
ACS organizes many galas, balls, and parties not only for guests but the staff needed to carry out these types of events. Due to the pandemic, ACS had to adjust how they could have large events with people in close proximity. ACS had to establish new procedures to keep everyone safe at their events. To ensure optimum health and safety standards, ACS needed help to implement these new policies to track staff and attendees' health, while maintaining respect for personal health information and individual privacy laws. With multiple events from all over the country ranging in size from hundreds to thousands, ACS needed a platform that could accommodate it all.
The Solution
ACS required a platform that was simple enough to ensure a high rate of attendee and staff adoption, but sophisticated enough to provide safe access, management reporting and adherence to best practices. To assist ACS in this challenging endeavor, CLEARED4 provided a solution to send out health surveys to staff, documenting all health attestations, alert event management of potential issues, and enabling safe access to the event, all while maintaining strict compliance with all existing HIPAA privacy laws.

The Benefits
Using the CLEARED4 platform and without requiring a separate app download, ACS was able to achieve nearly 100% adoption. To ensure the safety of everyone, ACS was able to verify attendees were vaccinated by uploading their vaccination cards to the platform. The administrators verified the following information:

This process ensured only those who were properly vaccinated were able to attend the event. Many of the ACS events were in different regions across the country requiring different forms of vaccine verification proof. The CLEARED4 platform was able to accommodate any testing rules for multiple testing types like negative test results or asking the user to take a health survey.
