The Customer
LIM College is a private college, located in Manhattan and focused on the business of fashion.
The foundation of LIM’s educational approach is experiential learning or “learning by doing” so live interactions are central and crucial to the students’ education. Additionally, fashion professionals from around the world regularly visit the campus to share their insights with students.
The Challenge
A business college, located in one of the most densely populated places in the world with a student population of nearly 2000, the majority of which live off campus would like to reopen to in-person learning.
LIM decided that a program of weekly testing of the entire student and faculty population was the safest and most fool-proof method to avoid disruptive closures and any “superspreader” events.
The Solution
LIM selected APPLIED DNA to administer their EUA approved Linea COVID-19 RT-PCR Assay Kit to their entire campus on a weekly basis. Test administration is merely one component of the complex, multi-layer process of tracking test schedules, incoming results and communicating the test results, sensitively and in a secure, HIPAA compliant way to students and staff.
Automation and technology, provided by CLEARED4’s health validation platform, provides the communication bridge between APPLIED DNA testing and LIM College. CLEARED4 also integrated with LIM College’s door entry control system to issue building access passes only to students and staff who had no symptoms and received a negative COVID-19 test.
The Benefits
The partnership between LIM, Applied DNA and CLEARED4 enabled the College to successfully remain open for on-campus, in-person learning without a COVID-19 outbreak.
As LIM College learned a new way of operating, Applied DNA and CLEARED4 offered the speed and flexibility to pivot in real-time - to change testing requirements, to modify automated communication, to add building access control, and to customize daily reporting to mitigate risk.

LIM College will continue to offer every student the option to safely attend class on-campus, in-person or to learn virtually on-line. LIM College is prepared for the future of hybrid learning and has a battle-tested infectious disease mitigation system in place to ensure safe spaces for students, staff and visitors.
